MUSE
09:00 - 31/10/2011, MY

Wearing a jacket from Haider Ackermann, trousers from Comptoir des Cotonniers and shoes from Ann Demeulemeester.

Thank you everyone for your congratulations. I had a lovely and probably the most versatile birthday in at least a very long time. Had the best time with Klara and Linnéa on Saturday and with family on Sunday, with cake as my only diet for the day. Rested and back to studies.

We talked about muses, and if I were to be a designer’s muse, it may – surprisingly – in that case be Haider Ackermann… In my hopes, I’d be that woman he always mentions. She, who is one season coming out into the light, with her appeal and her beauty while (often) in autumn, she closes herself, described as introverted, but always mysterious. (Listen or read an interview with him, and you’ll understand). Tilda Swinton, who is the closest to his muse, may be that woman. I don’t know, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Who would you be a muse to, and why?

10:00 - 30/10/2011, MY

Today is my 19th birthday! On top of my wish list is number 1, but 3 and 22 is fine.

LIGHTROOM
11:14 - 28/10/2011, MY

Greetings my friends. It’s Friday, and from the beginning of the week everything has been kind of boring (final exams and more studies), which obviously has had great influence on the context here. To be even more pessimistic, I’m having troubles with the light, or should I say darkness? In the north this time of the year, the sun isn’t very generuous. The worst part is that this is only the beginning, yet I’m not situated in the farthest north of this country.

At least my life gets slightly lighter tomorrow, when my best friends are coming to town! So, I’ll give you a mere smile (it is a smile in my opinion) before the world once again turns upside down.

BINARY MODEL
06:33 - 26/10/2011, THEIR

Harrison Boyce and Nathaniel Brown is the creative minds behind this insanely good and pretty short film, for NOWNESS.

“We wanted to conjure the idea of an engine slowing down, as the cogs and gears are grinding. It’s manic but also sparse, like impending doom, and Tatiana is the embodiment of that machine.”

GO BEYOND THE SKIN
12:10 - 24/10/2011, THEIR

What is the ultimate marketing method to prove the power of a concealer? Dermablend has the answer. They demonstrated the product on a fully tattooed body, which belongs to Rick Genest, or Rico the Zombie, muse to Nicola Formichetti. He maintains the same, rather angry expression through the whole transformation, proving that he is the same person when he’s not disguised by the ink. It’s a paradox: he is covered with make-up to look natural, unfarded and when he removes the make-up, he looks farded .

The campaign is called ‘Go Beyond the Skin’. See the video! It’s fascinating.

NOVEL EXPRESSIONS
12:47 - 23/10/2011, MY

My latest purchase is a crafted knit from one of Acne’s previous collections, F/W 2007. It’s heavy, which sort of verifies that it is made from advanced techniques, with loads of different textures and patterns. It is sad in one way that Acne doesn’t do this kind of fashion any longer, their expression has basically changed and developed undeniably into something more aesthetically appealing in a more modern sense. But still, it is that fraction I miss and I’m therefore even more pleased to I have found myself something from their past to make it my present. It even wears the old label in the back saying: Acne Jeans, Ambitions to Create Novel Expressions. And that it exactly was they are.

BACK TO JAPAN
02:16 - 20/10/2011, MY

Back from refrigerators, wearing Ann Demeulemeester S/S 2010. Wishing I was back to Japan.

So the other day, I finally got myself a copy of the new issue of Encens Magazine, #27 titled Back to Japan. As the title reveals every piece of the issue, from editorials to interviews, is pervaded by Japanese fashion and culture, contributing are among others Sybille Walter’s with a stunning black and white photography, ugly-pretty styling by Samuel Drira and modelled by Asia Bugajska and Yulia Lebova. Among plenty of other talented people. Get yourself a copy here.

Speaking of Encens and Japanese aestethics, my dear friend Wiktor – who is so good that he always makes me jealous when creating something new, yet inspired – made a beautiful video of his kimono he designed. Check it out, and all of his other videos of course.

REFRIGERATING THE SUN
01:27 - 18/10/2011, MY

What if the centered star of our solar system, the sun, was to lose all its energy eventually, to actually freeze. Possibly impossible. What are you’re theories?

Par-delà Les Nuages
08:38 - 17/10/2011, THEIR

Malgosia Bela in Par-delà Les Nuages by David Sims for Vogue Paris October 2011.

To me the most superb editorial published this season. Perhaps because it expresses my state of mind this autumn: a search for something beyond the clouds, a search for something unknown that will reveal my future. It is lonley, but only for a temporal time, like the cyclone in a hurricane, a Quite Storm. Which is also the title of an editorial he shot for Vogue UK last autumn (see here). His black and white, contrasted photography is by the way just, amazing (and I try not to use that word too often).

POETIC SOLDIER
06:04 - 15/10/2011, MY

A woman approached me yesterday in our local fabric store telling me how artistic I looked. Looking out behind the messy hair tucked in the tight belt, I must’ve looked rather perplexed, but was able however to utter something like thank you.

Continuing on the last post, being about protection, I created a look based on that idea, but instead of hair I refer to the word soldier. What I wanted to achieve was some kind of a romanticised idea of a soldier, a contradiction. Poetic even, so when that lady said those words to me, I felt very pleased (and glad of course). My main inspiration aesthetically is obviously Haider Ackermann, whose collections I always go back to when I want to absorb pure beauty. His ability to create a cohesive look of loads of details is impeccable.

The look is composed by a jacket from Haider Ackermann F/W 2009, turtle neck from Sand, belt from Weekday, skirt tied from a piece, trousers with leather panels from V Ave Shoe Repair F/W 2011, shoes from Ann Demeulemeester F/W 2008 and gloves from Martin Margiela.
