Dripping

Waiting for thaw, it is what I rather prefer than snow. I detest winter (and summer – love spring and autumn), to be frank, at least when living on asphalt. I am no good at keeping myself warm neither. The thought of purchasing outerwear has never really occured to me somehow.

I felt like dressing like London weather today, where as fashion week is now opened. It reminded me of this. Read the comments, they are hilarious.

Here are a pair of pictures from the second day of fashion week earlier this week in Stockholm, which was by the way very cold and well, all right I guess. Above is me just before The Local Firm’s show, captured by Karin. Below is our – the black and the difficult – new band cover… or something, from I snap u mag.

A sunday smile

The sun made an anticipated appearance last Sunday, a rather rare phenomenon in times like these. I put on this silk piece in a dark dust hue, it felt like water when I ran my fingers through it. The skirt on the other hand is made of cotton and thereby very stiff. And long, with a trail reaching at least one meter behind. I almost forgot the horns, the horns of course, essential in order to complete the theatrical look. Not work wear nor winter wear, last Sunday however, was a special day.

When there’s no light, everything is black

Obscure, dusk, mystic, unplugged, dull, absent. Words to describe my life, mirrored in the weather that refuses to approve a clear shot of what I’m wearing. Resulting in black and white, grainy photographs. Like those in Rick Owens’ book I got a week or two ago, who is by the what I’m wearing, like always these days.

This picture is photographed just about a hundred metres from where they recorded footage for the much talked about remake of “The girl with the dragon tattoo”. At least one of you must have seen it, as they’ve earned $167 million already. Anyway, it was the scene about the parade. The reason why I mention it is because it was what I spent 152 minutes on, excluding coffee breaks, last night. This was after the picture, so no case of copyright. I’m rather inspired by my lack of interest in clothing right now. All I think is numbers, equations, integrals. Studies. That is, in comparison to the weather, pleasant. The time pass so quickly when you’re brain is off somewhere else, in another dimension. Tomorrow I must reinforce my interest however, fashion week is approaching. I pity the street style photographers, if there will be any. With this light, everything seem pessimistic.

Speaking of the character Ms Salander, as they call her, I must admit I’m a fan. Not her way of dressing, rather her ego. She’s a hacker. My major goal in life is to become a hacker. Not in order to do illegal stuff, but just having the power to. She is standing on the lowest step in the hiearchy, yet she possesses the largest amount of power. That is perhaps a rather unconventional goal, perhaps native. I begin with the course programming later this spring, that’s a start.

Rick Owens spring 2011.

I finally got the horns from Rick Owens’s Anthem collection. They are slighltly bended however, but it’s the faults that make them unique. Somewhat like a goat. The hooded jacket is from the same collection, made of grey canvas. It feels like one of those windproof sports jacket you wear when skiing, or mountain climbing if you’d like. Material-wise, also the silhouette, although with a somewhat more sculptural and sharp cut. Simply how I would look if I were to climb Kebnekaise.

FRAME ONESELF
10:45 - 15/01/2012,

This ‘painting’, rather a printed photograph, was a Christmas gift to my bf. Something personal and something me. Picturing myself, created by myself, here mirroring the studio I’ve been nagging about, furnished with an easel, a mannequin and a ladder amongst other stuff, only minutes before wrapping it up. I have to say that it was a peculiar experience (since I’ve never done it before) to see my work coming out of the printer, but most of all to frame it. One copy, signed with my italic handwriting. In twenty years, it’s hopefully there, on the wall, still.

THE NUN

Sunday, yesterday, and people all the way from Russia to north of my town had come to visit our local cathedral. And so did I, possibly for a completely different reason. As a result of my intrusion , a tourist told me to step away from the cathedral so that she could take a picture. Without me in it so to speak. And so I left, with a few extra shots added to my camera. And with a new thought on my mind: thank god for religion.

If religion (and here Christianity) wouldn’t have existed, Rick Owens’ design wouldn’t plausibly look the way it does. Nuns and monks, goddesses and angels. All apparent in his aesthetics. The covered body, the hatred for vulgarity. I know, Rick Owens’s religious undertone isn’t a new thing, nor is fashion and religion as a phenomenon (quite the contrary actually). But for me – understanding fashion not quite understanding religion – that thought was quite an enlightenment.

Yes, there is a lot of Rick Owens here, in my sphere, at the moment. It seems like he’s is the only designer I want to wear. Like last year, with Margiela. I’m such a puritan, devoting myself truthfully to only one at the time. Rick Owens’s little cult of fans see him as their god. But what’s the difference between devoting yourself to the official God or Rick Owens? Nothing. Perhaps I’m becoming someone I fear to become, dependent, seeing fashion with tunnel vision, just like in religion, uncritical. If so, does that mean I have found salvation?

FOUR SEASONS
07:34 - 04/01/2012, Tags: , ,

2011 is in the past, 2012 is present and I plan to look forward, towards new possibilities including loads of travelling, creativity and graduation, great fashion and lovely people, generally speaking. Nothing concrete decided really, let’s just say that anything and everything could happen. However the future, the year 2012 turns out, I’ll remember this quote by Edward Young:

“Born originals, how comes it to pass that we die copies?”

Today I was wearing a turtle neck from Paul Smith, blazer from Zara, trousers from Ann Demeulemeester, one vintage beige glove and one black from Margiela, and the bag from Margiela as well, from the 20th anniversary collection.
